Dortmund is rebuilt, busy, practical and full of contrast.
Station crowds, football pilgrims, post-war façades, old brewing landmarks, galleries, lunch spots, late trains, and pockets of green when you need them.
Bob W Dortmund Stadtmitte is inside the historic Alte Post building, reimagined for how people use and move through the city now. Its design takes its cures from Dortmund’s coal, steel and black-and-yellow energy, now softened into amber light, blackened metalwork, honey-toned timber and details from local and regional makers.
Located directly opposite Hauptbahnhof, Bob W Dortmund Stadtmitte is a few minutes from the German Football Museum, close to Dortmunder U, and connected to the rest of the city by U-Bahn, tram, train, bike, or a determined walk.
Stay in the middle of it. Bring your laptop. Leave room for a gallery, a proper stretch of green at Westfalenpark, and the kind of evening that doesn’t need much planning.
Here’s how Bob does Dortmund.
Coffee, Calls, Dortmund.

Start with coffee. Obviously.
BO AllDayCafe on Westenhellweg is our pick. With a menu that is curated, creative, and quality-led, it's the kind of breakfast spot that can turn “just grabbing coffee” into an all-day affair. The Egg.Be.ne.dikt gets a lot of love, the matcha menu has range, and the sharing platters are made for grazing your way through a slow morning, a catch-up, or the kind of meeting that is better with something good on the table.
If you are station-bound, Coffee Fellows is the practical choice: a flat white, a bagel, maybe something vegan-friendly, then back across the street before your next train or Teams call.
The best bit: you do not have to audition every café in Dortmund to find a decent laptop corner. At Bob W Dortmund Stadtmitte, the in-apartment workspaces and lobby lounge are built for your workday, with plenty of plugs, smart casting, and high-speed Wi-Fi. Useful when your Dortmund day starts with calls instead of sightseeing.
Lunch With a Little Latitude
Lunch depends on the kind of day you’re having.
For a meal with a view, make it Baseology. Up on the sixth floor, with an all-day menu and enough rooftop calm to make your inbox temporarily fade away. Keep it light with a bowl or a few snacks, or let lunch slide into a Mango Man or Velvet Fizz if the afternoon allows.
If you’re craving Asian, Edo-Jidai does the job. Sushi for warm days, ramen for grey ones, Japanese classics for when you need something satisfying and low-effort. Polished enough to feel intentional, casual enough to drop in.
Staying in? REWE has you covered. The Hauptbahnhof branch is for train snacks and forgotten essentials; Kampstraße is for keeping the fridge stocked, lunch sorted, and making your apartment kitchen feeling a little more lived in.
A little nature. A little culture. A little reset.

When the laptop has won too many rounds, go green. Take the U-Bahn to Westfalenpark to enjoy the rose gardens, paddle boats, and the Florianturm. While you're stretching your spine, see how many of the 70 pieces of art you can spot hiding in plain sight.
If you prefer culture between calls, the German Football Museum is directly across the street from Bob W Dortmund Stadtmitte. Even if football is not your religion, it helps explain why it is Dortmund’s.
Or walk to Dortmunder U. Once the fermentation and storage tower for Dortmunder Union Brewery, galleries now stack across levels around the tall open atrium, with exhibitions connecting industry, technology, history, and contemporary culture. The city views from the top of the building will do more for your afternoon than another espresso.
Dinner, Drinks, Dortmund
After work, Dortmund keeps things easy: regional food, football in the background, and the occasional old industrial space with a very good sound system.
Wenkers am Markt is like experiencing the best of the city in one place: regional dishes, house beer if you want one, schnitzel on the table, and, of course a BVB match somewhere in the background.
With a local feel and attentive service, Intermezzo saves you from having to hunt for a nightcap. Just a short walk from Bob W, the bar offers a cocktail list with a few regular favourites - especially the Zombie. Handy if the day has left you feeling like one.
For something more open air, Herr Walter brings the summertime vibe: a converted harbour ship, sand underfoot, and a beach-club feel in the middle of Dortmund. Come for one relaxed drink, but don’t be surprised if the music, lighting, and crowd convince you to stay longer.
Your Dortmund Base

That's the thing about Bob W Dortmund Stadtmitte: it doesn't make you choose between convenience and character.
It gives you city living, Bob-style: practical first, local by nature. A central location, proper workspace, your own kitchen, and enough comfort to make the day feel easier - leaving room for the coffee, the galleries, the park, the matchday noise, and the neighbourhood to do the rest.
