We are excited to take our concept to the United Kingdom with a brand-new building currently being constructed to the UK’s highest environmental class with a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating. The opening is planned for 2022.
Bob W is a tech-driven hospitality provider offering a smarter alternative to hotels and short-stay rentals. Backed by top real estate investors and venture capitalists, we currently operate in Finland and Estonia with plans to expand further in Europe. Our East End property will mark our debut in the UK.
The up-and-coming Whitechapel neighbourhood
Aside from sustainability and authentic design, a prime location in a cool area is something you can expect whenever you sleep with Bob, no matter the city. This is why choosing a neighbourhood is serious business at Bob W. But in a city as big and diverse as London, how did we choose Whitechapel?
Whitechapel has a great location in central London, bordering the Shoreditch and City of London districts. Our new Chamber Street property is situated between tourist favourites like the Tower of London and London Bridge, corporate HQs, and Brick Lane’s vintage boutiques and bagel shops.
The energy-efficient building
Our real estate team is constantly seeking out properties from partners who share our high quality and environmental standards. For that reason, we’re thrilled to have secured this building at 73 Chamber Street from developer Chamber Street Social Ltd with the help of our friends at Saxbury, specialists in serviced apartment real estate.
“We love that Bob W is a young, urban brand innovating in hospitality. We clearly share the same values in sustainability, and they’re very flexible, which has made them easy to coordinate with.” – Chris Ploutarhou, Chamber Street Social Ltd
Besides its understated, modern exterior designed by award-winning architectural firm Tasou Associates, 73 Chamber Street features some really cool tech under the hood. Air-source heat pumps, a low-carbon technology, provide hot water, energy-efficiency condensers provide heating and cooling without using fossil fuel or gas, and photovoltaic (PV) panels help supply electricity.
“The buildings where we operate have the biggest effect on our sustainability footprint, so it’s an absolute joy to partner with a developer who shares our environmental improvement targets.” – Taavi Pettai, Senior Director Real Estate
As the sole tenant spanning seven floors, the property is being built for Bob W and the needs of the emerging short-stay rental category. The building is also being designed in accordance with a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating, which means it will be in the UK’s top 10% of most sustainable new, non-domestic buildings.
